Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) provides qualitatively differentiated learning experiences for students with unique abilities, interests and talents in all academic areas and/or visual and performing arts with the expectation that students will be successful learners capable of performing at high levels of ability. Research has shown that specialized instructional strategies, along with opportunities for gifted students to interact with each other on a daily basis, yield higher academic performance, as well as improved social and emotional well-being.
Are you interested in having your child tested for GATE?
CVUSD GATE identification begins in third grade. All third grade students have the opportunity to participate in GATE testing conducted in December each year. If you are interested in having your student tested for GATE at the middle school level, please complete the GATE parent referral form found below and send directly to Student Support Services. Upon receipt of a parent GATE referral, a teacher referral may also be requested to provide additional assessment/performance information which aids in the identification process.
